New Year's Resolutions: Vows To Oneself

A resolution is a vow made to oneself. It is a determination first made in the mind, and then affirmed as an orientation in physical space towards the intended outcome. And once that vow is made and the commitment is backed by our own footsteps in that direction then the universe can respond. Our action-backed resolutions are our way of proclaiming to the universe “here I come!”, and when the universe hears that, well all kinds of serendipitous support can result. And then voila…you are on the pathway towards manifestation.

Sounds pretty simple doesn’t it!?
BUT what you must realize (if you genuinely do want to succeed) is how important the inner alignment and right wording is of that first step, the RESOLUTION, is.

Making and proclaiming resolutions has become more of a fleeting new year’s fad than a soul-deep commune, and we really miss such a great opportunity there. The fact that so many of us are doing it at this time of year could make for a very powerful collective ritual, with great activation energy for your personal launch along that intended pathway.

Harnessing the power of this time of collective ritual must be done in a ritualistic kind of way. That doesn’t mean you have to light a candle and find some kind of deep meditative state (although if you can and do, then go for it!). It just means pausing to notice what wants to arise from you, choosing to make the words that you put to it matter, and then proclaiming your resolution in some kind of ceremonious way to yourself, some trusted allies, or indeed to Spirit.

A FEW TIPS:
  • Dedicate some time to it. Notice the good ideas of your mind, but also notice the desires of your heart and callings of your soul.
  • Ask WHY. If you are resolved around taking some action like “I am going to go to the gym 4 times a week” then look beneath that, and ask why…for what purpose? Get to the heartfelt resolve beneath the action resolve. If underneath going to the gym is a feeling of hating your body as it is then perhaps a resolution in greater alignment might be “I am going to learn to love my body as much as my body loves me.”. Then notice where your action resolves might fit in - certainly going to the gym can be a great way to show your body how much you love it!
  • Muscle test it. Not sure what feels expansive and what feels contracting when it all feels like work? Try muscle testing, or some equivalent. Your resolution should make you feel stronger, not weaker. In family constellations we use energy footprints to represent various energies. Try writing your resolution on a piece of paper, place it on the floor opposite you, and notice if you body wants to move towards it or run away screaming from it! Working in this somatic way can be very insightful!
  • Present tense it! Try wording your resolution in the NOW. This is where the real gold of manifestation lies!! If you can speak it in the present tense and FEEL the expansive energy of it then you are IN the energy of the outcome you desire! From there all you have to do is resolve to take the actions that you need to take, every day, to affirm your deeper resolve “I AM learning to love my body as much as my body loves me” or “I HAVE more than enough money, and even more is on its way” or “I AM available for love”.
  • Agreement and action. Agree to proceeding to action (and follow by proceeding to action!) Making any vow is a ritual of intent, and a meaningless one without the inner agreement to take the actions that arise from making the vow. So whatever your resolution is, follow it with "I will do my part, every step of the way". And then step!
  • Let the world respond. If you make it this far, well then open your arms and welcome the flow! Watch for signs, symbols, and leave space for the unexpected. The universe will meet you, in ways you might not have foreseen.

Happy New Year You Year to All!

I did make a resolution and plan on following through with it every new week. You certainly have added to my inspiration to make sure I follow up. Thank you for your guidance.as always.
