What is the Violet Flame? Well, just as a ray of sunlight passing through a prism is refracted into the seven colors of the rainbow, so spiritual light manifests as seven rays (flames). Violet is the seventh of these rays of light (the other six being blue, yellow, pink, white, green and indigo). Each ray has a specific color, wavelength, frequency, and quality, creating specific actions in the body, heart, mind and soul. The Violet Flame creates an action of purification, justice, compassion, and transmutation.
There are many other great gifts from the sun that we are well familiar with of course. As well as providing the basis for all of life on earth through the process of photosynthesis, and through the production of heat that allows for water to neither freeze all the way to the core nor evaporate out into the cosmos, the sun ensures that we can see. An important survival tool and an incredible gift through which to receive so much beauty! Of the broad range of light within the electromagnetic spectrum of the sun’s rays (wavelengths of 250-2500 nm), it is of no coincidence that nearly 50% of the light that the sun gives off falls within the relatively narrow range of the kind of light that we can see with our eyes. Between about 400 and 700 nm we experience the whole rainbow of color that make up white light. These eyes of ours evolved in the light of this sun after all, and the masterful force of biological evolution is very good at making the most of what is on offer in the environment. What does that little “nm” mean? It stands for “nanometer” which is one billionth of a meter! Pretty small! And what it means when we refer to light is how long one wave of that light is. Of our visible spectrum red has the longest wavelength at around 700 nm, while violet has the shortest, around 400 nm. That is why in a rainbow the purple light is at the bottom of the arch, and the red light at the top 😊 Humans have come to make use of all different wavelengths of light for very different applications. Beyond the red light that we can see lies infrared light, with wavelengths that get longer and longer, the other side of the violet light that we can see lies ultraviolet (UV) light, with wavelengths that get shorter and shorter. And when it comes to the sun, we all know about the power of UV light! Why does ultraviolet light burn but violet light does not? Does it really make that much of a difference when the wavelength of the light gets that bit shorter? Well, yes, it actually does. The shorter the wavelength of light, the higher the frequency, and therefore the more energy it has. Ultraviolet light is that bit energetic enough to penetrate the upper layers of the skin, and then…we burn. What this means is that in the visible spectrum, violet light has the most energy, and red light has the least. So why work with this highly energetic violet ray of light for healing? Because we can! Through intentional and repeated use by masters and teachers all over the world, the Violet Flame has become a very simple, accessible, and potent tool for healing and transformation. No special initiation or training is required to use it. It is a gift from the sun after all! But a gift that we have long overlooked, as we have moved further and further away from our body, heart and soul centered existences…increasingly to our great detriment. The upcoming Violet Flame workshop is open to all, no prior experience in energy work required. You will learn more about the science and the spirit of the Violet Flame, and how to bring this divine fire forward into your life to support you in burning away negativity and igniting spiritual growth. Early Bird until May 4th.
